December 2020 Update
As normal, sales for December at 32 were down from November at 47 in the Powell River residential real estate market. That’s still a strong December considering the monthly average for December for the past 5 years is about 23. With 61 properties available, that’s the lowest inventory in 2 years so with continued pressure from buyers, we’ll see more upward pressure on prices. If inventory remains low it will certainly keep the sales numbers down as well. Average prices year over year show a 15% increase from 2019 to 2020. It’s a challenging time for buyers, but with the BC economy holding fairly strong, it’s a good time to sell.
BC Assessment Facts
Total number of BC properties assessed = 2.11 million and total value of all properties = $2.01 trillion. If my math is correct, that’s just under $1 million per property. With that in mind, I can find some very inexpensive property for you in the Powell River area!
88% of those properties are residential.
Assessed values coming by mail this month are based on real estate sales. The amount of taxation will be established by local government and applied to those values. Interesting information and values of properties around you can be found at bcassessment.ca
